Cassie was "neglected" (whilst in "care")

(cutting from Sunday Express by mathew Mervyn-Jones 1/10/95)

Terry Arnold says family pet Cassie was a loveable labrador cross-breed. But five days after she briefly escaped through a hole in a garden fence in November , a dog warden from Rochester council, Kent clled at the Arnolds' home and seized her.

When placed in kennels, she was a bright healthy dog. But when the case came before magistrates at Gravesham, almost a year later. defence witness John Branch, a bull terrier breed judge who examined her said her condition was "the worst case of neglect I have ever seen"

The court ruled that Cassie wa a pit bull type. a decision that was overturned on appeal in July. Cassie still in shocking condition, went home. She is still receiving treatment. Mr Branch was so moved by the dog's plight he paid £400 of the bill/cutting ends
