LEFT BACK TO EARTH
Megab had become stuck up a 40ft electricity pylon outside her home in newport
Road, Cwmcarn, after being chased by a dog.
But instead of getting the response they had expected from the RSPCA, the
couple claim they were told their cat would have to stay put for 48 hours
before being rescued.
Staff from Hyder eventually arrived on the scene five hours after Mr. and
Mrs. Tucker reported the incident and rescued the terrified cat within minutes.
"We originally phoned the fire service and asked if they could help us, but
were told hat they didn't do that sort of thing any more," said Mr Tucker
"That was fair enough they have got enough on their plate, but for the RSPCA
to say that Megan had to stay up there for 48 hours is outrageous.
"The poor thing was absolutely terrified, she was crying to get down. In
the past I have always given donations to the RSPCA but after this
they will no longer get any more of my money"
Huw Evans, spokesman for the RSPCA said "I don't know why the couple were
told it would take 48 hours, that is not something we would normally say.
"If its after hours and one of our "inspectors" is dealing with an animal
in a life threatening situation we have to attend hat incident first before
dealing with one where an animal isn't in immediate danger."/cutting ends

"CAT NOT STUCK LONG ENOUGH"
Cat lovers Jacqueline and Sudershan Tucker were left speechless after contacting
