WRONGLY ACCUSED BY THE RSPCA

(Cutting fromThe Countryman's weekly by D Hancock 14/9/01) Thankyou Erik

The Countryman's Weekly recently on line is a really good read if you're interested in country matters.

As someone strongly opposed to dog-fighting and dog abuse. I read Cahal Milmo's piece (Monday August 27th issue of The Independent), with concern.

In this piece it was stated that "prowling on a Cornish Estate was a large fawn dog with a jagged wound- red, raw and crudely stitched with fishing line."

These words are surprising. The dogs in the Redruth raid were seized in the owner's house. The vet who examined them at the request of the police found no wounds on any of them and no signs of stitching.

This vet confirmed that these dogs were well cared for and unscarred.

The dog's owner's own vet. has never noticed any signs of abuse on any of his dogs. The local police confirm that the dogs' owner is a law-abiding citizen.

I agree with the remarks attributed to "Chief Inspector" Butcher of the RSPCA that the dog fighting world is difficult to infiltrate.

The RSPCA would gain our respect and earn our support if they had the magnanimity to admit that the Redruth raid was one that was wrongly targeted.

I support any action against dog fighting but that action has to be conducted within the framework of a just society.Punishing innocent dogs and their owner and his family is no way to win public support./cutting ends

This then to be placed alongside all the other cases under the title of Serial Liars!

Can anyone say why this fellow who has been tape recorded, according to Dr Barry Peachey being involved in a bribery deal to bear false witness against a party in a legal case is STILL working for the RSPCA????
