Here is the cutting from the Daily Mail 5th September 2001

You've heard of "road rage". Read the following excerpt and also read what the Mail wrote a only couple of weeks back.

One of the men has devoted his life to dogs as his younger partner. I cannot believe this outrage. Have a look at their website they have a beautiful kennels. I do not believe a word of the evidence especially having heard the other side of the story.

I have visited hundreds of kennels and this is a super one...see for yourself.

The Vanitonia Kennel was founded by Roger Stone (left and the late Graham Thompson 38 years ago, and is now co-owned with Lee Cox (right)

They have achieved remarkable success in Poodles, especially in Standards and Toys in both of which their dogs have had an enormous impact.

They have produces almost 50 Champions and their latest CC and BOB win was recently as Welsh Kennel Club with a standard. They have owned a number of breeds, and in recent years have won well with Chinese Cresteds, taking BOB and group2 at Crufts this year. They have also helped with rescuing poodles.

.

FORMER CRUFTS JUDGE WAS CRUEL TO SPANIEL

Two renowned breeders, one a former Crufts judge, have been found guilty of animal cruelty.

Roger Stone and Lee Cox run a show kennels boasting 48 British champions and more than 250 winners worldwide, a court heard.

But they kept a ten-year-old cocker spaniel called Adam in appalling conditions that led to serious health problems,

This must be nonsense as the environmental health officers from the council had granted a licence for the premises, and the license for a boarding kennels is severely inspected by qualified people...not as the RSPCA call their operatives who have 6 weeks training!!

The retired stud dog was found by the RSPCA with a chronically infected ear that resulted in the animal having its inner ear surgically removed.

The inner ear was surgically removed....that may well be.... but did anyone other than the RSPCA employees or vets used by them, see the ear before this operation was done? I think not!! And on whose evidence is it said that there was an untreated lice infestation?(below) (The RSPCA have been shown to be serial liars to get a conviction...follow the links on the index page to read why I say this)

The animal was also suffering from an untreated lice infestation.

Magistrates at Bridgewater, Somerset, were told that when the RSPCA "inspector" Jo Daniels arrived to inspect the Kaston Kennels last October many dogs appeared bald and scabby and there ws a strong smell of urine and faeces.

Liz Jones, who was a cleaner at the kennels, told the court that she alerted the RSPCA after becoming sickened by the "disgusting" state of the premises. Whose fault was that then ?

If this cleaner person was "sickened" by the "disgusting" state of the premises...what is she saying. She was apparently employed and presumably paid to be a cleaner.. Why then did she not clean them? Why did the RSPCA not prosecute her. She must have known about any ear infection.....why didn't SHE get it treated. Why didn't she mention it to the vet who was in regular attandance at the kennels. Why didn't she take the dog to the vet. Her responsibility was the very knowledge of the infected ear...was she granted immunity from prosecution if she would "rat" on her two bosses??

Cox 29, agreed that he did not take the spaniel to the vet and had treated the dog's ear condition with medication prescribed for another animal.

Which a kennel owner obviously having down to earth common sense would say to himself the signs and symptoms are the same as those of dog "A" so the dog l in question will obviously be improved with the medication prescribed for dog "A" Its only the RSPCA who waste money by doing jobs that already the subject of FREE attention by using the police and CPS!! They waste money donated for the animals doing a superfluous prosecution which the designated authorities are quite capable of doing.

Stone 62 claimed that he had not seen the spaniel for five months because "his poor health had kept him indoors"

Stone and Cox were found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to the spaniel. They denied the charge.

Magistrates gave them three year conditional discharge and ordered them to pay £5,000 costs to the RSPCA.

Stone is a former Crufts judge while Cox who became a show judge when he was thirteen, is an internationally-known groomer. Both men were co-odinators for South West Poodle Rescue.

Kaston Kennels, in Mark, Somerset, is part of what their internet website describes as the "world fmous" Vanitonia show kennels.

After the case Stone said: We have nothing to say about the verdict, but we will continue keeping the dogs"

RSPCA "inspector" Jo Daniel said "To find a dog in Adam's condition in a normal house wold have been bad enough, but to find one in the care of two internationally renowned breeders was shock"

king"/cutting ends.

Our comment

I do not know the gentlemen concerned except by reputation...which is good. For years I have seen their beautiful Vanitonia poodles.

I am horrified that magistrates can be so outrageously ignorant.

Look at the above text it will no doubt be better if I put my comments in to fill the obvious holes in the case made by the RSPCA!

Unfortunately Mr Stone was not familiar with the lack of powers of the RSPCA

and handed the spaniel over to them.I believe he is quite simply in the words of Chris Patten gob-smacked that the RSPCA could behave like they did.

I understand Mr Stone will be writing his account of the incident which we will be pleased to publish as will the innumerable anti RSPCA sites proliferating on the internet.

Mr Stone and Mr Cox must be really dedicated to their dogs I know from personal experience that poodles coats take a lot of hard work to be kept in the beautiful condition Vanitonia obviously achieve.

Roger Stone looks like a gentleman who enthusiastically greets life and is soft with the animals and Lee Cox looks like a person who is very kind to his animals.

Roger Stone has had a bad time with illness. Are all those miriad years of dedication wiped out by the vindictiveness of one cleaner and one equally vindictive RSPCA woman? Its a bad day when such people who have given their lives to dogs are treated in this manner. One another page I shall be listing the ambulance chasing of the RSPCA..let's just have a good look at the number of people they hear are ill and then focus on as a legitimate target!

Roger seems not to want to go to appeal...one can understand the shock of the behaviour of the RSPCA added to his poor state of health would have this effect...what a pity this is how the RSPCA win lots of cases..its not their life, their money, their health, and their home under threat.

Wing Commander Affie had to sell his home to defend himself...He won on appeal The damages will be substantial....Watch this space Vanitonia!!

One single lady told me that when she also another very famous kennel that the RSPCA told her "We'll have your house off you!" with great glee.
