WELSH WITCH'S GARDEN

MARCH 2004

The greenhouse is now almost complete. This is the last piece of the roof being screwed in place.

It's great to digest how much has been saved on this project.I f you want to engage in a similar project the cost up to now has been..........

The blocks which have been here for ages so we've forgotten.

The wood free from shops being dismantled.Builders and developers would it seems be only too pleased to give you as much wood as you like they only have to pay someone to take it away otherwise!.

The horticultural glass £80. My partner cut it himself...and had a few accidents!!.

The PVC corrugated top was made up of 18 pieces of 6' by 2'6" ==£120.

Cuprinol 2 tins== £40.

Slabs for central walk== £30.

So altogether this industrial size greenhouse has cost £270.

I was delighted to see a greenhouse of much smaller size advertised in one of the gardening magazines £7500 plus vat.!! Even the B@Q greenhouses are thousands. I am reminded frequently how much the labour would have cost had my partner not been quite so clever and hardworking etc etc!!

We already have one or two benches etc from the other greenhouses that have blown down! There are loads of seed trays and plant pots up by the store near the orchard.

The beautiful Avante daffodil above and used as the background, sadly is a great disappointment as even a hint of damp makes it collapse its head to the ground.
