WELSH WITCH'S GARDEN MARCH 2004

This was once upon a time the raspberry garden. We planted two 120 feet of raspberry canes. They went very wild and no one could eat so many raspberries.

Here Erik is trying to mend the rotovator but I fear it's worse than we expected.

As its the Queen's Jubilee Year I thought we'd have a "flag garden"...that's incredibly clever as the flowers in here will be predominantly "flags or iris!!

Its now raining (deo gratia) as I have managed to plant eight clumps of kniphopia about 4 feet apart as the weeds will be terrible so I need room to get around them !

In front of these I am putting iris sibirica. What a job! I had to take what Erik calls the "pig axe" to try to cut them out of their clumps. I horrified nearly cut a toad in half but managed to pick him up and take him under the pampass grass!

In front of the iris sibirica will be going the ordinary iris of which I have hundreds to move from Erik's vegetable garden. I should of course have labelled them as to the colour so I'll just have to guess!

I have discovered the honeysuckle in the little Gipsy garden has made several new ones I think I shall put these in the top right hand corner of this area up the trees. There are lots of foxgloves waiting round the bottom of the trees . I'll be moving some of the do it yourself plants over here around the trees like evening primrose, marigolds, fever few, nasturtiums, etc I can leave them to get on with weaving a pretty tapestry around the trees.
