WELSH WITCH'S GARDEN MAY 2004At this time at least I am hoping to keep to a logical plan and here I am dividing the plants I have grown into categories. Those with perfume are MY red letter plants. On looking round the garden this afternoon I realised I had forgotten just how many perennial plants there are here and my goodness am I going to be able to find room for all the new ones?! The many roses are always an enormous delight and I shall be looking forward to seeing the hedge blossoming where we have moved some from the garden proper in an effort to stop the invading animals! My head divides colours into four rays...red; yellow; blue and green. A higher ration of red and yellow makes for a really cheerful atmosphere. The blue ray brings an aura of calm and contemplation. I will place the garden seats in such a way that I can tune into the different parts of my psyche as and when I will. I myself shall be careful of too much deep blue and purple! There's always something in these old sayings and I don't want to be in a "blue" mood too often! My addition as to where I am going to put these different plant people will be tacked on as I decide. The agastache I know I shall be putting many of those plants in between under and around the butterfly trees (budleija). The butterflies love both the agastache and the budleija. I have put a seat right by this corner and its lovely to stop and watch the activity round there. The "volcano" at the end of the East walk is a focal point. I catch sight of it through the window every time I go into the bathroom. Something dramatic and very colourful there I think. Perfume trap here too. I shall be moving the newly painted seat near here. (Painting can't go on we've had a terrible storm and the seats are all soaking again!).
Volcano bed I think Sweet peas up the cherry tree, there in the middle. There are one or two Evening Primrose that have seeded themselves on the Volcano, they can stay there. Front Dianthus Rainbow Lovliness mixed, for the exquisite perfume..A delicate job as there are lots of tiny luminous primroses (primula wanda) around the bottom now over. What to put for an eye catching item? A couple of tall Larkspur at the back and snapdragons covering the remainder. The Alexander Girault rose will soon be out on the left over the archway there are two one each side. The Leylndii hedge curves round to make this sheltered corner. I wonder if I dare try a few things outside? I have recruited thousands of snapdragons so I may risk a few of them! Above snapdragons. Just to the right is a small Mexican orange blossom tree out in flower at the moment. In front of that there are literally thousands of Honesty plants seeded themselves. I'd forgotten them as they're biennials. Shall I leave them or not??? Yes I think I will!
